OVA
Description
Ayumi Yoshida is a first-grade student at Teitan Elementary School and one of the founding members of the Detective Boys. She, along with classmates Genta Kojima and Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, convinced Conan Edogawa to investigate a seemingly haunted mansion, uncovering an old homicide disguised as supernatural hauntings. This led to the group's formal formation. Ayumi was the sole female member until Ai Haibara joined. Her gratitude towards Conan for saving the group from mafia members during a stolen Italian gold coins case developed into a serious crush on him, often causing him discomfort. She perceives Conan as having feelings for Haibara due to his protective behavior and their private conversations.

Primarily naive and innocent with a strong sense of adventure, Ayumi exhibits growing courage and acts as the group's cheerful spirit. During investigations, she contributes perceptive observations. She deciphered a code from a Momotaro container by deducing it referred to a statue at the Oohara Art Museum, instructing them to walk 25 steps in the direction it faced. She also notices subtle details, like a shaved Taiko Mejin in casual attire, contrary to his usual habit of growing facial hair when not wearing a kimono.

Kidnapped during hide-and-seek, Ayumi accidentally stowed away in a car trunk. Hidden, she overheard criminal discussions and discovered bundles of cash and a severed head, later revealed as actors' props for a play rehearsal. This resulted in her reluctantly taking a role in their performance to compensate for damages during her rescue.

Ayumi actively befriends newcomers, immediately reaching out to Haibara. She offered to walk Haibara home and invited her to join a Detective Boys case. Initially distant, Haibara warmed to Ayumi, permitting her exclusive use of the informal address "Ai-chan" and regarding her like a younger sister. Ayumi maintains good relationships with Mitsuhiko and Genta but remains unaware of their respective crushes on her. Her open affection for Conan often provokes jealousy or disappointment in them.

She frequently visits Professor Agasa with the Detective Boys, utilizing his gadgets like communication badges. Ayumi lives with her parents as an only child.

She appears in numerous cases across episodes, movies, OVAs, and specials, including investigations of an old blue castle, the Festival Dolls Dyed in the Setting Sun case, and the search for a distinctive buttock mark. She participates in all Detective Boys activities in films, such as the hunt for Excalibur, with no unique character developments solely within that OVA.

Her name originates from mystery writer Ayumi Kitagawa. She carries a pink cellphone with a background image of herself playing with a sparkler. Her name means "beautiful step" (Ayumi) and "joyful ricefield" (Yoshida).
