Description
Koji Kabuto pilots the Mazinkaiser against the Mycenae Empire's surface invasion. His connection to Dr. Juzo Kabuto anchors this conflict, as Dr. Kabuto's Photonic Energy research and Mazinkaiser legacy form humanity's primary defense against subterranean threats. While returning to the Photonic Power Laboratory, Koji witnessed Lori and Loru sacrifice themselves to destroy General Birdler and the Mikelos during an attack. This loss left him mourning and powerless alongside fellow survivors.

When Mycenae generals assaulted global cities, Koji, Sayaka Yumi, and Dr. Morimori survived a plane crash and took refuge at an army base. Dr. Morimori detailed the Great General of Darkness’s threat and the Mycenae Empire's origins, framing the war through Dr. Kabuto's prior discoveries. Archduke Gorgon attacked the base to kill Koji, prompting Dr. Morimori to sacrifice himself and destroy General Ligern and multiple Warrior Beasts, though Gorgon escaped.

Koji and Sayaka then fled toward Japan. After their jet failed, they traveled via motorcycle and truck until Gorgon ambushed them. The attack destroyed their motorcycle and wounded Sayaka. Koji defended her with a Photon Gun, critically injuring Gorgon before Boss Borot intervened to defeat him. Sayaka remained with a truck driver named Riki while Boss Borot transported Koji to the ruined Photonic Power Laboratory.

Koji initially believed the Mazinkaiser destroyed but learned it was retrofitted in orbit. Boss Borot exposed the hidden Kaiser Pilder within itself, lured attacking Mycenae forces led by Dante into a diversion, and enabled Koji’s escape in the Pilder. Boss Borot perished during this maneuver. The Mazinkaiser deployed from satellite containment, and Koji docked with it mid-descent to Earth.

Commanding the Mazinkaiser, Koji eradicated remaining Warrior Beasts and generals. He pursued General Draydou using the Kaiser Scrander and annihilated him with the Fire Blaster. The Great General of Darkness intervened, crashing the Demonika into Mazinkaiser near Mount Fuji. Koji retaliated by hurling the Kaiser Scrander to destroy the Demonika.

During the final duel, both fighters stood evenly matched until Koji deployed Rocket Punches to disarm his foe. Invoking the names of Lori, Loru, and Dr. Morimori—victims of Mycenae’s violence—Koji overpowered the Great General, hurling him into a crater and impaling him with his own sword.

Post-victory, Koji joined a memorial for the fallen and supervised repairs to the laboratory and Mount Fuji. The Mazinkaiser later retrieved the damaged Great Mazinger, signifying an enduring alliance with its pilots Tetsuya and Jun.
