Description
Keiichi Noda, born Seiji Yamane on September 16, 1943, in Yamaguchi Prefecture, is a veteran Japanese voice actor and narrator who has been active in the industry since 1966. He is affiliated with the talent management firm Aoni Production. Noda's career began during a formative period for Japanese anime, and he quickly became known for his deep, resonant voice, which he has lent to a wide array of heroic and villainous characters over several decades.
Noda is closely associated with iconic roles from the 1970s and 1980s. He is perhaps best known as the voice of Tetsuya Tsurugi, the protagonist pilot in the classic super robot anime Great Mazinger. Another major role from this era is Shinemon Ninagawa in the beloved historical comedy Ikkyū-san. He also has a long history with the Cyborg 009 franchise, voicing Pyunma / Cyborg 008 in the 1968 series and later Jet Link / Cyborg 002 in the 1979 version.
His distinctive narration and character work have made him a staple in several major franchises. He provided narration for various entries in the Transformers franchise, including Transformers: Super God Masterforce, where he also voiced the villainous Giga and Overlord. In the epic space opera Legend of the Galactic Heroes, he voiced the hot-blooded admiral Fritz Josef Bittenfeld. His filmography also includes roles such as Otho in Captain Future, Dr. Mashirito in Dr. Slump, Albiore in Saint Seiya, and, in more recent years, the Five Elders member Saint Jaygarcia Saturn in One Piece. Beyond anime, Noda has extensive credits in tokusatsu superhero productions, providing voices for characters in series like Ganbare!! Robocon and the Super Sentai franchise.
In recognition of his long-standing and significant contributions to the animation and voice acting industry, Keiichi Noda was honored with the Merit Award at the 19th Seiyu Awards in 2025.
