Description
In the lawless entertainment district of Kabukicho, a delicate balance of power is maintained by four influential figures known as the Four Devas. One of these is Otose, the proprietress of a small snack bar, who holds her position not through force of arms but because she is protected by the district's strongest and most unpredictable samurai, the odd-jobs man Sakata Gintoki.
The fragile peace begins to unravel when a mysterious young woman named Tsubaki Hirako approaches the Yorozuya agency, asking to become Gintoki's apprentice. Unbeknownst to him, she is the infamous Killer Hirako, a former member of the Uekibachi Family and the daughter of another of the Four Devas, the formidable yakuza boss Doromizu Jirochou. Jirochou, a legendary swordsman and a friend of Otose's late husband, has returned to the district with a ruthless plan to unify all criminal factions under his control, shattering the existing power structure.
As Jirochou's forces move to eliminate the other Devas, Otose becomes a primary target. Gintoki is confronted with an impossible ultimatum: join the Jirochou family to ensure Otose's safety, or refuse and watch her be attacked while his own life is marked for death. The conflict forces Gintoki to confront his deep, unspoken debt to the woman who gave him a home and a new purpose after a devastating war. The arc explores the complex history between Otose and Jirochou, whose shared past and mutual promises to a dying man now fuel a violent collision of ideals. What follows is a full-scale turf war that engulfs Kabukicho, drawing in allies and enemies alike. Gintoki must rally his strength and fight not just for survival, but to protect his family and the very soul of the district he calls home. The film runs approximately 105 minutes and compiles one of the most acclaimed dramatic storylines from the original television series into a single theatrical feature.
