Description
Kanade Amamiya, along with his bandmates Junya Sasaki, Chizuru Sawamura, Shin Oikawa, and Itsuki Katagiri, have successfully won their debut as the idol group DearDream. However, the celebration is short-lived when their mentor, the legendary Haruto Mikami, tells them they are still not true idols. This harsh assessment sends the five young performers back to the drawing board for the next Dream Festival competition, forcing each of them to confront what they lack and discover their individual value beyond the group's initial success.
The series is set within the entertainment world of D-4 Production, where idols use special Dorika cards sent by fans to create their stage outfits and enhance their performances. In this second season, the focus shifts from simply winning a competition to deeper personal growth. Kanade, who serves as the center of DearDream, struggles to understand his own worth and strength as a leader. Shin, a former child actor, must learn to separate his new identity as an idol from his past career. Chizuru and Itsuki form a duo and face outside pressures from the industry, while even the usually confident Junya continues to refine his craft.
Notable narrative arcs give significant screen time to DearDream's friends and rivals, the duo KUROFUNE. The stoic Yuuto Kuroishi reveals that his drive to become an idol stems from a childhood mentor named Ryou, who taught him to love music before suddenly disappearing. Yuuto believes that only by achieving fame can he reconnect with his lost mentor, a goal that initially upsets his flamboyant partner, Keigo Kazama. Their arc resolves as they reconcile and strengthen their bond, understanding that they need each other to succeed.
As the new Dream Festival approaches, DearDream has visibly matured. They earn the honor of performing last at the event, but disaster strikes when Kanade severely injures himself during a rehearsal, jeopardizing the entire performance. With the help of every member of DearDream and their friends in KUROFUNE, the seven rookies band together to ensure the show goes on. They deliver a final, powerful performance that demonstrates how far they have come, not just as competitors, but as idols who can support one another and connect genuinely with their fans.
