Description
Broly is a Saiyan mutant designated as Universe 7's Legendary Super Saiyan, a demonic warrior appearing once every millennium. Born with an extraordinarily high power level surpassing Prince Vegeta's, King Vegeta exiled him as an infant to the barren planet Vampa. Accompanied by his father Paragus, Broly endured 48 years of harsh isolation, surviving extreme conditions with scarce resources. In childhood, he befriended a giant creature named Ba; its severed ear fur became a memento pelt worn at Broly's waist. Paragus fitted him with a shock collar to suppress volatile power, administering painful shocks during emotional surges. This upbringing yielded limited social skills, technological naivety, and unfamiliarity with basic comforts like cooked food or clean water. Despite Paragus's abusive methods, Broly maintained unwavering loyalty, refusing to speak ill of him.
Rescued by Frieza Force members Cheelai and Lemo, Broly joined Frieza's army. Initial battles against Vegeta and Goku on Earth revealed rapid adaptability and escalating power. During combat, Broly harnessed Great Ape strength without transforming, overwhelming Super Saiyan God-level opponents. Frieza provoked Broly's full rage by killing Paragus and falsely blaming Goku and Vegeta, triggering Broly's Super Saiyan transformation. This state induced a mindless, feral rampage where Broly attacked indiscriminately, targeting even Frieza and Whis. His power peaked confronting the fused warrior Gogeta, unlocking the Super Saiyan Full Power form—a bulkier, uncontrollable state amplifying destruction. The battle nearly proved fatal for Broly until Cheelai and Lemo used Earth's Dragon Balls to wish him safely back to Vampa.
Broly's personality blends gentleness with volatility. He exhibits kindness, gratitude, and protectiveness toward allies like Cheelai and Lemo, defending them against threats. His speech remains formal and respectful, reflecting isolation. However, intense emotions or combat exertion trigger berserker rages, eroding sanity and self-control. These episodes render him impervious to pain and unable to distinguish friend from foe. Physically, he possesses a muscular build, tanned skin, and distinctive scars across his chest, bicep, and cheek. His attire evolved from makeshift clothing to Frieza Force armor, later replaced by a simple black shirt. Post-battle, Goku visited Vampa delivering supplies and proposed training sessions to help Broly master his power, establishing a friendly rivalry. Broly now resides on Whis's planet, training alongside Goku and Vegeta under divine guidance. His canonical backstory, including exile and Frieza Force alliance, integrates into the manga continuity.
