Shortly after awakening, they meet a Chimchar aspiring to join an exploration guild. Together, they form Team Poképals and enter Wigglytuff's Guild for training.

This Piplup possesses the unique Dimensional Scream ability, triggering involuntary future visions upon physical contact with objects or Pokémon. Early visions foresee specific item purchases in Treasure Town and predict a stone bridge collapse within Labyrinth Cave. These premonitions prove crucial during missions, allowing the team to avoid dangers.

Initially driven by confusion over their transformation and a desire to recover lost memories, the Piplup's motivations evolve through guild experiences. They demonstrate courage during their first major mission: retrieving a Gabite Scale to cure a Shinx's sister. During the ensuing battle with Gabite, the Piplup spontaneously learns Bubble Beam mid-combat due to a Joy Ribbon's effects.

A significant shift occurs in the Piplup's relationship with Chimchar. While the partnership begins pragmatically, the shared challenges of their mission foster genuine camaraderie. After completing the Gabite Scale mission and learning of the recurring threat posed by Grovyle's Time Gear thefts, the Piplup consciously reaffirms their commitment to both Chimchar and Team Poképals, explicitly referring to Chimchar as their "partner." This decision solidifies their dedication to solving the mysteries of their transformation and the world's disruptions.
