TV Special
Description
Urd is the elder half-sister of Belldandy and Skuld, sharing a divine father but born to the demon lord Hild. This unique heritage makes her a hybrid goddess-demon. Her mixed nature manifests physically in bronze skin, silvery-white hair, and purple eyes; she stands approximately 165-170 cm tall with measurements of 90-60-91. It also manifests in her angel, World of Elegance, which appears half-white and half-black, symbolizing her duality. Urd initially rejected this angel out of shame, fearing it revealed her impure lineage, but later summoned it to save Skuld from a magical barrier.
Personality-wise, Urd is impulsive, headstrong, and prone to meddling, often acting without considering consequences. She operates on the belief that the "end justifies the means," though her focus on methods can cause her to lose sight of original goals. Unlike typical goddesses, she occasionally lies or distorts the truth to achieve objectives. She openly embraces her sexuality, utilizing provocative attire and teasing behavior, particularly toward Skuld regarding age or physical traits. Despite this, she demonstrates fierce loyalty and is deeply protective of her sisters. Her relationship with Skuld combines constant antagonism with underlying affection, described by Belldandy as a "best friends" dynamic fueled by strong emotions.
Professionally, Urd holds the rank of Goddess Second-Class, Limited License (Management Category) and serves as a System Administrator and Manager for Yggdrasil, Heaven's reality-maintaining computer system. Though powerful enough to pass trials for First-Class status, she declined the promotion because its requirement to protect all beings conflicted with her personal desire to focus solely on safeguarding her sisters. Her primary elemental affinities are fire and lightning magic, and she possesses extensive knowledge of potion-making and alchemy. However, her impulsive use of raw power frequently backfires, causing unintended explosions or chaos.
Key developments include her initial arrival on Earth to interfere with Belldandy and Keiichi's relationship using love potions, resulting in her banishment from Heaven. She later chose to remain on Earth permanently after her exile was lifted. Her hybrid nature causes internal conflict, occasionally exploited by external forces like the Lord of Terror. When cornered, she can unleash a demonic form—marked by slit pupils, increased affinity for lightning, and a star-shaped facial seal—granting power rivaling first-class demons but risking loss of control and detachment from her family. Over time, she gradually accepts both aspects of her heritage, notably using her demonic abilities to destroy threats like the Power Absorber when her sisters are endangered.
