In this live-action television adaptation, the story begins as Sugimoto Taeko, a woman in her later years, moves into the bustling household of her adult daughter Natsuki and her granddaughter Mizuki. Settling into this lively three-generation home, Taeko finds herself unexpectedly confronted by the past as she watches Mizuki navigate the trials of elementary school. The sight of her granddaughter triggers a flood of powerful and long-buried memories from her own childhood. She vividly recalls the bitter taste of the first pineapple she ever ate, the crushing embarrassment over a disastrous score on a math test, and the thrilling awakening of her spirit during a school performance. Revisiting these moments from her youth stirs something deep within Taeko, causing her to unearth a dream she had sealed away decades ago: a burning passion for the stage. Declaring she will finally pursue it, Taeko immediately auditions for a play and throws herself into rehearsing a Shakespearean production. However, just as she begins to embrace this long-denied ambition, the theater where she is set to perform suddenly goes bankrupt, forcing her to give up on her dream once again, leaving her to reconcile the person she became with the child she once was.
