OVA
Description
Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya is a first-grade student at Teitan Elementary School and a core member of the Detective Boys. Approximately 6-7 years old and weighing 20 kg, his parents are both teachers, and he has an older sister, Asami Tsuburaya, who is about ten years his senior. Mitsuhiko joined the Detective Boys after investigating a supposedly haunted mansion with classmates Ayumi Yoshida, Genta Kojima, and Conan Edogawa. Initially skeptical of supernatural claims, his participation led to the group's formation following the uncovering of a homicide case and the recovery of stolen Italian gold coins.

He exhibits a scientific and analytical approach to problem-solving, frequently reading science books and applying technological or logical methods during investigations. His formal upbringing results in consistent use of the respectful suffix "-san" when addressing elders. Mitsuhiko values preparedness, often documenting clues in his Detective Boys notebook to anticipate potential evidence loss; this habit has proven crucial in multiple investigations, such as preserving riddles later destroyed in a murder case.

Key moments in his development include deciphering a riddle to escape a cavern and demonstrating leadership after Conan fell unconscious during "The Desperate Revival" arc. In the "Mushrooms, Bears, and the Detective Boys" case, he aided an injured Ai Haibara, crafting a bandage using Conan's technique and devising a coded signal for rescue, marking the onset of his romantic feelings toward her. Motivated by Haibara and Ayumi's admiration for fireflies, he ventured into Gunma Prefecture during "Mitsuhiko's Mystifying Forest" to capture them, encountering the escaped criminal Ki'ichiro Numabuchi, who spared him due to their shared appreciation. He also contributed to solving the "Mountain Witch's Cutlery" case by witnessing a suspect sharpening a cleaver with a menacing expression.

Non-canon developments in the film "Countdown to Heaven" show Mitsuhiko confiding in Ran Mouri about his equal affection for Haibara and Ayumi, questioning if this made him "a bad person," and later rescuing Haibara during a perilous fall by firmly grasping her hand. In the OVA "A Challenge from Agasa," Mitsuhiko appears as part of the Detective Boys.

Mitsuhiko maintains close friendships with Genta and Ayumi, sharing typical childhood interests like treasure hunts and snowman-building. He dislikes carrots and consistently eats them last when possible.
