Born in Texas and raised in Hong Kong and New York, she studied theatre at New York University with the initial aspiration of performing on Broadway. After returning to Hong Kong, she was introduced to the voice acting industry through a position as a dubbing script director, a field where she found she could utilize her skills and which led to a prolific career.

Fu's career encompasses a wide range of voice work, including animation, video games, and commercials. She is likely best recognized for voicing the title character, Momoko Sakura, in the long-running and beloved anime series Chibi Maruko-chan. Another prominent role is providing the voices for both Jessica and Sally in the animated series Line Town. Her portfolio also includes a significant number of roles in dubs produced for networks like Animax Asia.
