One summer, strange and mysterious phenomena begin occurring across Japan, astonishing everyone. The Nohara family travels to Akita Prefecture to visit Hiroshi's parents and enjoy the famous Omagari Fireworks Festival. During their stay at the home of Shinnosuke's paternal grandfather, Ginnosuke Nohara, the family experiences a peaceful time. On the morning after their arrival, a baffling incident occurs: the room where they are sleeping is scattered with flyers for Obake Village, which promises all-you-can-eat Chocobi snacks. The excited Shinnosuke convinces his family to visit this village, and they journey deep into Akita's remote mountains. As they proceed, they inadvertently enter a strange and forbidden realm known as the Land of Yokai, a world where humans are forbidden to enter. Within this mysterious and nostalgic world, the Nohara family hears a frightening rumor: humans who get lost in the Land of Yokai will be turned into yokai themselves and lose their memories. Now facing their greatest crisis yet, the family must find a way to return to the human world amidst a grand and unpredictable summer adventure filled with cheerful and peculiar yokai.
