Mie Sonozaki is a Japanese voice actress, singer, and narrator born on February 7, 1973, in Tokyo, Japan. Her path to voice acting was shaped by early exposure to the performing arts, as her mother ran a ballet school, leading her to study classical ballet from elementary school. She later joined her high school's drama club. After graduating from junior college with a degree in nutrition, she enrolled in the Haikyo Acting Institute to pursue professional training.
Sonozaki's career began in 1997, initially using the hiragana stage name "そのざきみえ". She changed her stage name to its current kanji form, 園崎未恵, in 2002. For many years, she was affiliated with the agency Remax before transitioning to freelance work in 2019, although she maintains a business partnership with them.
Her voice is known for its versatility, allowing her to portray a wide spectrum of characters, from young boys and girls to mature, stoic, or passionate women. One of her most iconic and long-running roles is that of Gertrud "Trudy" Barkhorn in the long-running Strike Witches franchise, a character she has voiced across multiple television series, OVAs, and films, including Strike Witches: Road to Berlin.
