Tommy Morgenstern

Description
Tommy Morgenstern is a prominent German voice actor, born on March 28, 1974, in Osnabrück, Germany. His career began unconventionally through music; he was the singer in a band and entered the world of voice acting by chance when he successfully auditioned for the role of Butt-Head in the German version of the MTV series Beavis and Butt-Head in the mid-1990s. This marked the start of a prolific career in dubbing.

Morgenstern is perhaps best known in Germany and among anime fans for his long-standing role as the adult Son Goku in the Dragon Ball franchise. Cast by voice director Björn Schalla in 2001, he first voiced the character in the Dragon Ball Z series and has since reprised the role in numerous films, including Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. His association with the character has made his voice iconic for a generation of viewers.

Beyond Dragon Ball, Morgenstern has voiced a wide array of other significant anime characters, demonstrating his versatility. He is the German voice of the powerful curse Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen, a role he has stated is one of his favorites because it allows him to play a villainous character, providing a contrast to the many heroic roles he typically undertakes. He also lent his voice to the passionate Flame Hashira, Kyoujurou Rengoku, in the blockbuster film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train. His extensive anime filmography includes roles in Promare as Galo Thymos, Tokyo Revengers as Masataka Kiyomizu, Doreiku The Animation as Zenichi Bunkyo, Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor as Agito Makishima, and One Piece as Kozuki Oden, among many others.

In addition to his work in anime, Morgenstern is a highly sought-after voice actor for live-action films and series. He is the official German dubbing voice for actors such as Chris Hemsworth, Ryan Gosling, and Norman Reedus (famously as Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead). His extensive career also includes roles in video games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Ghostwire: Tokyo, as well as work as a singer, contributing theme songs for Dragon Ball films and performing with various bands. Tommy Morgenstern's deep, versatile voice and his ability to portray both iconic heroes and complex antagonists have established him as one of Germany's most respected and recognizable voice actors.
