Description
Antonio Palumbo is an Italian voice actor, dubbing director, and dialogue adapter, widely recognized for his long-standing role as the voice of Goemon Ishikawa XIII in the Italian-language editions of the extensive Lupin III anime franchise. Born in 1964, Palumbo has built a prolific career spanning several decades, lending his voice to a vast array of characters in film, television, and animation.

Palumbo's entry into the performing arts began in theatre, where he interpreted works by authors such as Von Kleist, Paul Rudnick, and Sophocles, and appeared in adaptations of James M. Cain and Agatha Christie. He has also worked as an on-screen actor, with appearances in Italian television series like La squadra, Distretto di Polizia, and the film L'ultima volta insieme in 1981. However, he is best known for his work as a voice actor, a field in which he has been active since at least the early 1990s and in which he also serves as an instructor at the Voice Art Dubbing school.

His most defining and enduring role commenced in 1992, when he became the Italian voice of the samurai Goemon Ishikawa XIII for the Lupin III series. This association has continued for over three decades, making his voice synonymous with the character for Italian audiences. Palumbo has voiced Goemon in a multitude of Lupin III productions, encompassing nearly every format of the franchise. His credits include the television specials Lupin III: Bye Bye Liberty: Scoppia la crisi!, Lupin III: Il mistero delle carte di Hemingway, Lupin III: Ruba il dizionario di Napoleone!, and Lupin III: Viaggio nel pericolo. He has also voiced the character in the theatrical films Lupin III: The First, the OVA Lupin III: Green vs Red, and the crossover events Lupin III vs. Detective Conan and its film sequel, Lupin III vs. Detective Conan: The Movie. His filmography also includes the third Italian dub of the classic Lupin III: Il castello di Cagliostro (Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro) from 2007 and the more recent Lupin III: Prigioniero del passato (Lupin III: Prisoner of the Past).

Beyond his iconic work in the Lupin universe, Palumbo's voice is featured in numerous other animated productions. He has voiced William Dalton in various Lucky Luke animated films and series, including Lucky Luke e la più grande fuga dei Dalton. His other animation roles include Toro Bob in Mucche alla riscossa (Home on the Range), Giuda in Giuseppe - Il re dei sogni (Joseph: King of Dreams), and Professor Sato in Ultraman: Rising. In the anime genre specifically, he has also voiced Captain Falcon in F-Zero: GP Legend, Jeager in Ultimate Muscle, Lemo in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, and Cikatro Vizago in the Italian dub of Star Wars Rebels.

In addition to his animation work, Palumbo is a highly active voice actor for live-action content. He is the regular Italian voice for actors such as Sean Bean, Gary Sinise, and James Nesbitt. Some of his most prominent roles include dubbing Naveen Andrews as Sayid Jarrah in the series Lost, Michael Bowen as Jack Welker in Breaking Bad, and Patrick Malahide as Balon Greyjoy in Game of Thrones. His extensive dubbing credits also span films like The Hobbit trilogy (as James Nesbitt's Bofur), The King's Man, and Joker. A notable achievement in his career was dubbing the character of Geppetto, portrayed by Roberto Benigni, in the English-language version of Matteo Garrone's 2019 film Pinocchio.

Palumbo's work also extends to the realm of video games, where he has lent his voice to major titles. His video game roles include Eno Cordova in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and its sequel Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Sensei Ishikawa in Ghost of Tsushima, Skippy in Cyberpunk 2077, and Odino in God of War Ragnarök.
