Description
An abnormal phenomenon has been observed in Kaga, the quiet town where Akina Myodo and his friends live. A thick fog shrouds the streets, and a great tower stands sentinel where none existed before. This mysterious realm is called the Fantasma. On the night when the crimson moon rises, certain individuals transform into Fantôme Fighters, beings who confront reality and fight to protect the fabricated. Standing against them are the Mythisch Fighters, special individuals chosen by the cards to withstand the Fantôme and protect what is real. The central question driving the conflict is whether the parallactic will be erased or become the verity.
Akina Myodo, now a third-year high school student and the protagonist of the Divinez storyline, rises to restore Kaga to its original form. He is a family-oriented older brother living with his younger sister Hikari and their overworked father. When his mother left the household, it left a noticeable impact on the family, with Akina tearfully promising to work hard to fill the space she left behind. Nao Inabe, a university student who taught Akina how to play Vanguard at their part-time job, steps forth alongside him as a Mythisch Fighter. With a caring nature and refreshing personality, she is liked by everyone. Michiru Hazama, the former Under-20 World Champion who is usually somewhat absent-minded but becomes remarkably sharp when it comes to Vanguard, also joins the fight. Gabwelius, the mysterious plush toy-like creature who organized the Fated Clash and Destined Showdown, takes on a new role in this final conflict, appearing in human form to lead the charge in reshaping reality from within the mysterious tower.
The arc serves as the final chapter of the Cardfight!! Vanguard Divinez storyline, which began in January 2024. The conflict is not a simple battle between good and evil. The Fantôme Fighters, who mirror the protagonists of earlier seasons in their motivations, fight to protect a fabricated reality where their deepest wishes have been fulfilled. When Akina awakens from the illusion of the Fantasma, he finds his parents together again, forcing him to confront whether he is willing to undo that happiness and return to a life with his busy single father. The tone becomes a cerebral exploration of loss and gain, reality versus fabrication, with characters casually spending time at restaurants and amusement parks before fighting to determine which aspect of reality survives until one side has no players left.
The narrative focuses heavily on two major threads. The first involves Kurumi Ishikawa, a girl Akina knew from the hospital who suddenly becomes his classmate and best friend within the Fantasma, their chemistry forming a strong emotional core. The second follows Gabwelius, the little dragon plush who gave Akina the opportunity to cure his sister's illness by participating in the Fated Clash, now leading the charge in the final conflict. Production is handled by Kinema citrus in collaboration with CLAMP, who continue to provide the character designs. The opening theme is Genkai by V.W.P, and the ending theme is Giragira by RealRomantic. The anime premiered on January 10, 2026.
