TV Special
Description
Tony Tony Chopper is a reindeer who gained human intelligence, speech, and transformation abilities by consuming the Human-Human Fruit (Hito Hito no Mi), a Zoan-type Devil Fruit. Ostracized first for his blue nose and then for his Devil Fruit powers, he was rescued by Drum Island's quack doctor Hiriluk. Hiriluk became a father figure, igniting Chopper's passion for medicine and giving him a signature pink top hat adorned with a medical cross. After Hiriluk's death, Chopper apprenticed under Dr. Kureha, honing his medical skills.

The Straw Hat Pirates met Chopper during the Drum Island Arc. Though initially hesitant due to his self-image as a monster, Monkey D. Luffy persistently invited him to join as the crew's doctor. Chopper ultimately accepted after witnessing Luffy's fierce determination and acceptance, finding true friendship and family. His Devil Fruit grants three main forms: the small hybrid Brain Point, the fully humanoid Heavy Point, and the full reindeer Walk Point. He invented the Rumble Ball drug to unlock four temporary additional transformations. Originally, consuming three Rumble Balls within six hours triggered a dangerous, uncontrollable Monster Point form with severe strain. Following a two-year timeskip dedicated to medical study and combat training in the Birdie Kingdom, Chopper mastered six forms without Rumble Balls and gained control over Monster Point using a single pill, managing its duration and effects. Further work with Caesar Clown extended Monster Point's duration but introduced a temporary infant-like state with elderly speech patterns.

Personality-wise, Chopper is naive, timid around strangers, and often cowardly in danger, though he finds courage to protect others. He possesses a strong moral compass as a doctor, adhering strictly to a Hippocratic Oath-inspired code. This fuels intense anger towards those who misuse medicine or science, like Hogback, Caesar Clown, or Queen. Deeply kind-hearted and forgiving, he is fiercely loyal to his crew, whom he considers family. He harbors an immense love for sweets, especially cotton candy, earning him the epithet "Cotton Candy Lover". A recurring joke sees characters mistake his Brain Point form for a tanuki, causing him visible frustration as he insists he is a reindeer. When complimented, he typically reacts with flustered denials while performing a distinctive dance. He is also highly gullible, frequently believing Usopp's tall tales.

As the Straw Hat doctor, Chopper wields extensive medical knowledge, excelling in surgery, pharmacology, and creating antidotes from natural resources. His dream is to cure any disease, fulfilling Hiriluk's belief that no illness is incurable. Key medical achievements include developing an antidote for Caesar Clown's child test subjects on Punk Hazard and treating the Mink Tribe and Ice Oni victims in Wano Country. He fights defensively or to protect others, using his transformations for combat versatility. Despite his capabilities, the World Government severely underestimates him, reflected in low bounties: 50 Berries after Enies Lobby (mistaken for a pet), 100 Berries post-Dressrosa, and 1,000 Berries after Wano Country.

After the timeskip, Chopper matured, embracing his identity as a "monster" for Luffy and displaying increased confidence. He became more assertive, even scolding crewmates for recklessness. His fur lightened from dark brown to gold, and his Walk Point form grew taller. He debuted new transformations like Kung Fu Point and an enhanced Horn Point. Beyond the main story, Chopper appears in films (e.g., *Chopper's Kingdom of Strange Animal Island*), video games, crossovers like *Cross Epoch* (Dragon Ball Z), and the gag manga *Chopperman*. A significant 2025 project titled "CHOPPER’s" launched official social media accounts depicting his daily life in the real world through manga-style illustrations and sketches, visiting places and engaging in mundane activities. He will appear in the second season of Netflix's live-action adaptation in 2026, portrayed through performance capture by Mikaela Hoover based on Eiichiro Oda's original artwork.
