Nozomi Sasaki
Description
Nozomi Sasaki is a Japanese voice actress born on February 19, 1983, in Kanagawa Prefecture. Her real name is also written as 佐々木望, which shares the same kanji characters as the veteran male voice actor Nozomu Sasaki. To avoid confusion in the industry, she uses the hiragana rendering of her name, ささきのぞみ, as her stage name.
Before entering the voice acting profession, Sasaki graduated from university and worked various jobs, including as a shrine maiden at a local shrine and as an office receptionist. Her path to voice acting began when she participated in a workshop where her voice caught the attention of anime director Akitaro Daichi. He invited her to audition for his upcoming television anime project, which led to her being cast as the heroine, Nanami Takahashi, in the series Bokura ga Ita in 2006. This role marked her professional debut. Initially working as a freelancer, she joined the talent agency Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society (Haikyo) in October 2007 and remained affiliated with them until May 2023, when she transitioned back to freelancing.
Sasaki's career is marked by several long-running and notable roles. A significant early role was Patricia "Patty" Martin in the popular slice-of-life series Lucky Star in 2007. Starting in 2008, she began voicing the Misaka Sisters, including the individual designated as Misaka 10032, across the entire A Certain Magical Index franchise. This includes appearances in A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun, A Certain Scientific Accelerator, and their subsequent seasons, a role she has played for many years. She is also well-known for portraying Hina Ebina in the acclaimed romantic comedy series My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, which aired from 2013 to 2020. Another major franchise in her filmography is the Jewelpet series, where she voiced the character Sapphire (also known as Sapphie) across multiple installments, including Jewelpet, Jewelpet Twinkle, Jewelpet Kira☆Deco—!, and Lady Jewelpet.
In addition to anime, Sasaki has an extensive body of work in video games. She is recognized for her roles as Felicia and Oboro in the tactical RPG Fire Emblem Fates and its related titles, as well as Danua in the popular mobile game Granblue Fantasy. Other game credits include Pyrrha Alexandra in Soulcalibur V and Eldridge in Azur Lane.
Beyond voice acting, Sasaki has also contributed to the music side of the industry. For her debut role in Bokura ga Ita, she performed theme songs and wrote lyrics. She also arranged and composed the ending theme for the 2019 anime Granbelm. In 2022, she independently released her debut mini-album, Navigatoria, for which she wrote the lyrics and co-composed the music. Her creative work extends to writing lyrics for other artists, including the song Beautiful Day for Vivian Hsu.
