Description
Kōji Tsujitani was a Japanese actor, voice actor, narrator, and director of audiography born in Kodaira, Tokyo, on April 26, 1962. He began his voice acting career in 1986 and was active until his sudden death from a stroke on October 17, 2018, at the age of 56. Tsujitani was formerly affiliated with Sigma Seven and was married to fellow voice actress Kumiko Watanabe in 2012.

Tsujitani built a substantial legacy in anime, often portraying cool, handsome, or charismatic characters, though he also became well known for roles with a more perverse or irresponsible charm. One of his most beloved lead performances was as the laid-back yet lucky space captain Justy Ueki Tylor in The Irresponsible Captain Tylor. In the Gundam franchise, he left a significant mark by voicing Bernard Bernie Wiseman, the tragic protagonist of the acclaimed OVA series Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, as well as Seabook Arno in the film Mobile Suit Gundam F91.

For a generation of fans, Tsujitani was best known as the voice of the lecherous but well-meaning monk Miroku in the long-running hit series InuYasha, a role he reprised in the show's final season and multiple feature films. His other major roles included the demon hunter Yakumo Fujii in 3x3 Eyes, the spirit world agent Itsuki in Yu Yu Hakusho, the ambitious Dewey Novak in Eureka Seven, the calculating Solomon Goldsmith in Blood+, the gentle healer Tanda in Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit, and Ryu in the Street Fighter II V anime. He also voiced Azai Nagamasa in the comedic Sengoku Basara spin-off Gakuen Basara: Samurai High School.

Throughout his career, Tsujitani frequently collaborated with specific franchises and studios. Beyond his major Gundam roles, he appeared in other Sunrise productions like The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird. He took over the role of Tatewaki Kuno in Ranma 1/2 for several episodes and an OVA after the passing of the original voice actor, Hirotaka Suzuoka. In the video game field, he voiced Woody in Kingdom Hearts III. Later in his career, he expanded his work behind the microphone by serving as the director of audiography for several productions. His final television role was as Takafumi Yukawa in the 2018 series Kokkoku.
