Description
A Japanese salaryman, overworked and exhausted, dies and is reincarnated as Van, the fourth son of Marquis Fertio in a fantasy world. Possessing the memories of his adult life, he is hailed as a child prodigy, excelling in both his studies and swordsmanship. His family, which highly values powerful offensive elemental magic, has great hopes for him. However, on his eighth birthday, Van’s magical aptitude manifests not as fire or wind, but as Production Magic, a craft-focused ability considered worthless for battle. His father, the marquis, is so disappointed that he decides to banish Van to a remote, nameless village on the edge of their territory to oversee it in disgrace.

Instead of despairing, the optimistic Van sees his exile as an opportunity. Accompanied by a loyal group of retainers who chose to follow him—including his kind personal maid Till, the eccentric but highly skilled knight commander Dee, the wise former butler Esparda, and the young former slave Khamsin—he sets out to transform the impoverished and failing village into a thriving, fortified town. Using his unique knowledge from his past life combined with his Production Magic, which allows him to create high-quality goods and structures from raw materials, he quickly begins to improve the village’s defenses and economy. He builds ballistas, reinforces walls, and creates essential tools, turning the joke assignment into a prosperous settlement.

His rapid success, however, draws unwanted attention. After his village’s new defenses easily repel a massive attack by forty fearsome Armored Dragons, word of Van’s achievements spreads. Political enemies within his own family grow jealous, neighboring nobles become wary of his growing power, and the king himself takes an interest. Van soon finds himself navigating complex political intrigues, including forced marriage proposals from merfolk and other houses seeking to claim his burgeoning territory. As a larger war brews between the Kingdom of Scuderia and the Jienretta Empire, Van’s strategic mind and revolutionary weapons become essential assets, forcing him to take on a much larger role in the kingdom’s defense than he ever anticipated, even as rival nobles plot his downfall.
