Ruggero Andreozzi
Description
Ruggero Andreozzi is an Italian voice actor, born in Modena on March 3, 1978. His path to a career in voice acting began not with a direct ambition to dub films, but with a passion for radio. After a period of uncertainty while studying economics at university, he followed his instinct and began working in local Modena radio in 2000. This initial experience led him to pursue formal training, first at the Accademia Nazionale di Arti Cinematografiche in Bologna and later at the Centro Teatro Attivo in Milan. In Milan, he studied under the guidance of established voice directors and actors such as Rodolfo Bianchi, Massimo Giuliani, and Aldo Stella, which laid the foundation for his future career.
Andreozzi is highly active in the dubbing of anime, providing the Italian voices for a vast array of characters across many popular series. He is the voice of Trafalgar Law in the long-running series One Piece, a role he has performed since the episode 474. In the world of My Hero Academia, he voices the antagonist Tomura Shigaraki. He is also the Italian voice of Kento Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen and Asahi Azumane in Haikyu!!. His film work includes lending his voice to Trafalgar Law again in One Piece Stampede and to Johngalli A. in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean. Other notable anime roles include Welf Crozzo in Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, the Spearman in Goblin Slayer, Uryū Ishida in Bleach, Kyogai in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and characters in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise such as Kite Tenjo.
Beyond animation, Andreozzi has an extensive and prominent career in dubbing for live-action television and film, as well as for video games. He is the Italian voice of George Blagden's character Athelstan in the series Vikings and of Avan Jogia's Beck in Victorious. His voice is also featured in the Italian versions of many major video game titles. He is the voice of Simon 'Ghost' Riley in the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games, JD Fenix in Gears of War 4 and Gears 5, Bayek of Siwa in Assassin's Creed: Origins, Delsin Rowe in Infamous: Second Son, and Harry Osborn in the Marvel's Spider-Man games. He is also known for being the Italian voice of Vergil in DmC Devil May Cry.
Andreozzi's work is characterized by his versatility, moving between genres and mediums with ease. He has spoken in interviews about the challenge and appeal of dubbing live-action human characters, where he must convey deep emotion using only his voice to match an existing physical performance. In contrast, he notes that anime and video game work often involves more technical demands, such as portraying intense action and emotion from isolated voice files. He views his role as giving soul and body to a character through voice alone, striving to make the unreal feel real. His voice is also well-known from radio, as a promo voice for R101, and from television, as the official voice of Sky Cinema for a period.
