Description
Giovanni commands dual authority as Viridian City’s Ground-type Gym Leader and the secretive head of Team Rocket in *Pokémon Origins*, balancing his civic role with covert criminal operations. His organization exploits rare Pokémon through calculated schemes, such as wielding the Silph Scope to manipulate Lavender Town’s Ghost-types. After losing a Gym battle to the protagonist, he disbands Team Rocket, abandons his post, and leaves the Silph Scope behind as a tacit apology, enabling Blue’s subsequent Gym leadership.

Strategic control defines Giovanni’s leadership, exemplified by his authorization of Archer’s Silph Co. takeover to secure the Master Ball. Defeat at Silph Co. forces his retreat to the Gym, reinforcing his dual identity. Though his backstory remains unexplored, his actions paint him as a methodical, power-driven tactician who concedes defeat when outmatched.

While game narratives expand his lore with familial ties like his son Silver, these elements remain absent in *Pokémon Origins*. His consistent portrayal frames him as a manipulative, authoritative strategist who temporarily withdraws from crime after setbacks, leaving his broader ambitions unresolved.
