Movie
Description
Meowth, a male Pokémon, possesses the rare ability to speak human language and walk upright—traits he cultivated to win the affection of a female Meowth named Meowzie. Her rejection, deeming him “freakish,” drove him to join Team Rocket, forming a permanent trio with Jessie and James. Together, they relentlessly pursue Ash Ketchum’s Pikachu while scheming to steal powerful Pokémon.

As a stray in Hollywood, he endured hardship, joining a gang led by a Persian after fleeing persecution for stealing food. His dedication to mastering human speech and bipedalism left him incapable of learning his species’ Pay Day move, a vulnerability often exploited during missions. Despite his villainous pursuits, he exhibits unexpected compassion, such as caring for an abandoned Charmander and aiding Ash’s group in critical moments.

In *Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!*, Meowth and Team Rocket track Ash to Mount Tensei, aiming to thwart his encounter with Ho-Oh. Though their efforts collapse, their resolve remains unshaken, continuing to trail Ash beyond the film’s climax.

His personality merges sly ingenuity with slapstick mishaps, crafting intricate plans that frequently unravel. Moments of cowardice contrast with spurts of bravery, whether shielding allies or confronting past traumas. Though prone to quarrels with Jessie and James, their bond hinges on interdependence, while his dynamic with Ash’s group teeters between rivalry and uneasy alliance.

Distinctive features include a gold koban coin adorning his forehead, modeled after the maneki-neko. Later media introduces regional variants, absent in the film, and his inability to evolve—coupled with human-like traits—cements his uniqueness, blending comedic antics with sporadic emotional depth.
