Aya Uchida is a Japanese voice actress and singer born on July 23, 1986, in Ōta, Gunma Prefecture. Affectionately known by her nickname "Ucchi," she is affiliated with the talent agency Across Entertainment. Her career in the entertainment industry is marked by a successful dual pursuit of voice acting and music, beginning with her debut in 2008.

Uchida's journey toward becoming a voice actress began in her childhood, fueled by a love for animated films from Studio Ghibli and Disney, and a particular admiration for the character Sailor Moon from the anime Sailor Moon. Her interest became a defined goal during middle school after she learned about the profession through a magazine. To pursue this dream, she enrolled in Yoyogi Animation School after high school and later became part of the inaugural class at the JTB Entertainment Academy, where she received specialized training in voice acting and performance. In the early stages of her career, she supported herself with various part-time jobs while building her portfolio of roles. Uchida's career-defining role arrived in 2013 when she was cast as Kotori Minami in the massively popular multimedia franchise Love Live! School Idol Project. This role as a member of the idol group μ's significantly elevated her public profile and became a cornerstone of her career. The success of Love Live! led to live concerts, music releases, and a 2015 film, Love Live! The School Idol Movie. In 2015, she and her fellow μ's cast members received the Singing Award at the 9th Seiyu Awards for their work on the franchise. Another notable lead role followed in 2017 as the protagonist Kaban in the hit series Kemono Friends, a performance that further demonstrated her range and popularity. Her voice acting portfolio is diverse, encompassing a wide array of characters across many series. Her involvement in Love Live! as part of μ's and its sub-unit Printemps was her entry into professional music performance. She launched her solo career in 2014 under the Nippon Columbia label with the release of her first full album, Apple Mint. Her discography includes several albums and singles. Her 2019 single, "Sign/Candy Flavor," featured the song "Sign," which was used as an ending theme for the popular anime The Quintessential Quintuplets. A significant milestone in her music career was her solo concert at the prestigious Nippon Budokan in August 2016. She celebrated her 10th anniversary as a solo artist in 2025 with the release of a remix album titled Re:mix - Nigiyaka na 10th Anniversary -.

Throughout her career, Uchida has been recognized for her contributions beyond acting and singing. In November 2014, she was appointed as a tourism special envoy for her home prefecture of Gunma, reflecting her strong ties to the region.
