High school student Hibiki Manabe is suddenly transported from his classroom to a vast, monster-filled grassland in an unfamiliar fantasy world. Stranded and alone, he discovers he has been granted the non-combat occupation of Appraiser (Provisional) along with its corresponding Appraisal skill. While these abilities seem useless for fighting, Hibiki soon learns their true potential. He is rescued by Emalia Steinbart, a blonde elf adventurer who becomes his guide and first companion.

Together, they form an adventuring party as Hibiki searches for a way to return to his original world. He recruits two other outcasts: Claude, a wolf beastman who was once a legendary hero but is now weakened by a curse, and Lilian, a young girl with immense magical potential as a Sage who cannot control her powers. Hibiki uses his Appraisal abilities to analyze their conditions, identify the source of Claude's curse, and help Lilian manage her magic. He also gains a support system called Support-chan, a voice from the gods that only he can hear, along with Vene, a small white sacred beast who joins the group.

Hibiki discovers that his Appraisal abilities are far more powerful than anyone assumed, allowing him to see hidden stats, weaknesses, and even communicate with the gods of this world. As the party travels through the fantasy realm, they take on quests at the adventurer's guild in the town of Lowell, where Hibiki attracts the attention and affection of various female characters including guild staff and innkeepers. A notable early arc involves Hibiki using his skills to restore Claude's severed arms through a complete heal, solidifying the wolf beastman's loyalty. Throughout the journey, Hibiki aims to grow stronger, protect his new friends, and uncover a potential path back home while the title teases that his humble Appraiser job may become the strongest class of all.
