Description
Doraemon is a robotic cat originating from the manga created by Fujiko Fujio. Manufactured on September 3, 2112, at the Matsushiba Robot Factory as model MS-903, an electrical malfunction during production resulted in him being a substandard unit with diminished capabilities. Originally yellow, robotic mice gnawed off his ears, instilling a lasting fear of mice. After a failed surgery left him bald and subsequent mockery by other robotic cats, he consumed a sorrow-inducing potion; his tears washed away the yellow paint, permanently turning him blue.

His primary mission involves traveling back to the 20th century to assist Nobita Nobi, a chronically underachieving child, aiming to alter the impoverished future trajectory of Nobita's descendants. Sent by Sewashi Nobi (Nobita's great-great-grandson), Doraemon resides with the Nobi family as an unofficial member, functioning as a caretaker, protector, and surrogate sibling.

Physically, Doraemon appears without ears, with a predominantly blue body and white facial features, hands, and feet. He possesses a red tail, circular palms with suction cups, and a four-dimensional pocket on his abdomen. This pocket stores approximately 1,293-1,963 futuristic gadgets from the 22nd century, including the "Anywhere Door" for instantaneous travel, the "Take-Copter" for flight, and the "Time Kerchief" for age manipulation. A recurring scenario involves him frantically retrieving inappropriate gadgets during emergencies due to panic.

Personality traits include a fondness for dorayaki, occasional jealousy or infatuation toward feline companions (particularly Mii-chan), and extreme musophobia, often triggering disproportionate reactions. He exhibits persistent frustration when mistaken for a raccoon dog. Despite his mechanical nature, he requires sustenance for energy conversion and demonstrates emotional vulnerabilities like anxiety during health check-ups.

His relationship with Nobita evolves from duty-bound support to genuine friendship, marked by mutual loyalty despite frequent friction over Nobita's misuse of gadgets. Doraemon acts as a peacemaker among Nobita's friends, including Shizuka Minamoto (Nobita's love interest), Gian (a bully with hidden loyalty), and Suneo (a boastful classmate). He maintains a sibling bond with his sister, Dorami, who occasionally critiques his methods with Nobita.

Beyond core narratives, Doraemon appears in cultural contexts. Japan's Foreign Ministry appointed him the nation's first "anime ambassador" in 2008. He featured in Tokyo's 2016 Olympics presentation and live-action commercials portrayed by actors like Jean Reno. His image has been utilized on magazine covers and adapted into merchandise, including ESP Guitars shaped like his silhouette.
