"Tokyo Mew Mew New" is a reboot of the 2002 anime series "Tokyo Mew Mew," based on the manga by Reiko Yoshida and Mia Ikumi. The story centers on Ichigo Momomiya, a high school girl who becomes infused with the DNA of an endangered species, the Iriomote cat, after a mysterious incident at a wildlife exhibition. This transformation grants her the abilities of a Mew Mew, a group of girls tasked with protecting Earth from alien parasites known as Chimera Anima. These creatures are created by the alien race Deep Blue, who seek to cleanse the planet of humanity to reclaim it for themselves.

Together, they form the Mew Mew team, operating under the guidance of the Mew Project, a secret organization dedicated to combating the alien threat. The girls balance their everyday lives with their responsibilities as Mew Mews, battling Chimera Anima while uncovering the mysteries behind the Deep Blue and their connection to Earth.

The narrative explores themes of environmentalism, teamwork, and personal growth as the characters confront both external threats and internal struggles. Ichigo, in particular, grapples with her dual identity and the weight of her responsibilities, while developing a close bond with Aoyama, a boy she admires, who harbors his own secrets tied to the alien conflict.
