Description
"Eden" is a four-episode original net anime series set in a distant future where Earth has become a barren wasteland, and humanity has vanished. The world is now inhabited by robots, who maintain the remnants of human civilization under the belief that humans are extinct. The story centers on Sara, a young human girl discovered by two farming robots, E92 and A37, in a stasis pod within an underground facility. Despite their programming to consider humans as a forbidden entity, the robots decide to raise Sara in secret, sheltering her from the wider robotic society.
As Sara grows, she becomes curious about the world beyond the isolated Eden she calls home. Her presence, however, threatens to disrupt the fragile order maintained by the robots, who are governed by strict rules and a central authority known as Zero. Zero enforces the belief that humans were a destructive force and must never return. The narrative explores themes of coexistence, identity, and the legacy of humanity as Sara and her robot caretakers navigate the challenges of keeping her existence hidden while grappling with the ethical implications of their actions.
The series delves into the relationship between Sara and her robot guardians, particularly E92, who takes on a paternal role, and A37, who is more pragmatic and cautious. Their dynamic is tested as external forces, including Zero and other robots, begin to suspect the presence of a human. The story builds toward a confrontation that forces Sara and her protectors to confront the truth about humanity's disappearance and the role robots play in preserving—or erasing—their legacy.
"Eden" balances its futuristic setting with intimate character-driven moments, focusing on the bond between Sara and her robot family. The narrative is concise, with a clear progression from Sara's discovery to the eventual revelation of humanity's fate and the moral dilemmas faced by the robots. The series concludes with a resolution that underscores the potential for harmony between humans and machines, leaving room for reflection on the consequences of technological advancement and the enduring impact of human existence.
