Kim Kyung-soo is a teenager with uncontrollable telekinetic powers who has been expelled from eight different schools. His final chance at an education is Volcano High, a bizarre and dangerous institution where students and teachers possess supernatural martial arts abilities and the law of the jungle prevails: the stronger one's power, the greater their status. On the 108th anniversary of the school's founding, Kyung-soo arrives to find a place ruled by rival student factions, including the brutal weightlifting team captain Jang Ryang, known as Dark Ox, and the mysterious tea expert Song Hak-rim. The prize everyone seeks is the legendary Secret Manuscript, an artifact said to grant world-ending power to whoever possesses it, which the missing principal has kept hidden. The power-hungry vice-principal schemes to obtain the manuscript and frames Hak-rim for the principal's apparent murder. Kyung-soo also becomes entangled with Yoo Chae-i, the school's top female fighter known as Icy Jade, who initially views him as a nuisance but gradually develops feelings for him as he demonstrates an unusual combination of clumsy kindness and raw, untamed power. After Hak-rim passes on his knowledge and names Kyung-soo as the only one who can defeat Jang Ryang, the school descends into open warfare between students, rival clubs, and corrupt teachers. A final climactic battle erupts on the rain-soaked sports field, where Kyung-soo must fully embrace his abilities to defeat Jang Ryang, clear Hak-rim's name, and decide what kind of future he wants for Volcano High.
