Description
Two rival patrol officers in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police are forced to become partners, pairing the calm, mechanically gifted Miyuki Kobayakawa with the hot-headed, martial arts expert Natsumi Tsujimoto at the Bokuto Police Precinct. Although assigned to the traffic division, their strong sense of justice and tendency to act first rather than call for backup quickly earn them a reputation for reckless behavior that puts them at odds with their superiors.
In the opening episode, Miyuki and Natsumi notice a suspicious van with no license plates and decide to investigate without waiting for support. They burst into a supermarket they believe is being robbed and subdue a masked suspect with a flying kick, only to discover they have interrupted a police training drill and unmasked their fellow officer, Ken Nakajima. The incident results in disciplinary action, but it also establishes the pair as an effective if unorthodox team and introduces Nakajima, a tough motorcycle officer who secretly harbors romantic feelings for Miyuki.
Over the course of nine episodes, the duo tackles a variety of cases that range from bus hijackings and mysterious wedding deaths to an obsessive bomber. One notable arc follows the officers as they save a teenage girl named Yuka from attempting suicide after being bullied at school. Miyuki and Natsumi become personally invested in protecting her, even when doing so threatens their careers. The series balances these dramatic moments with action-comedy set pieces, including martial arts confrontations and car chases, though the fight choreography has been noted as more stylized than gritty.
The drama places a greater emphasis on romantic entanglements compared to the original manga and anime, particularly the unspoken tension between the stoic Nakajima and the reserved Miyuki. The series aired on TV Asahi from October 17 to December 12, 2002, featuring lead performances by Sachie Hara as Miyuki, Misaki Ito as Natsumi, and Kazushige Nagashima as Nakajima.
