The Monk explains that zero means fighting without conscious thought or emotion. Sato struggles to empty his mind during practice spars. The Monk strikes him repeatedly, but Sato cannot let go of his analytical habits. Meanwhile, the Ice Witch confronts the Monk in a separate room. She demands that the Monk stop training Sato. The Wizard pushes the cart to block lanes and swings the staff to keep distance. Sato initially loses because he overthinks every move. He tries to predict the Wizard's patterns but gets hit repeatedly. Sato then applies the zero technique. He clears his mind of all intent and stops planning. Sato's body moves on instinct. He dodges the Wizard's staff and steps inside the Wizard's guard. Sato lands a decisive counterattack to the Wizard's torso. Sato grabs the half-priced bento before the Wizard recovers.
