OVA
Description
Brock, known as Takeshi in Japanese, originated as the Pewter City Gym Leader in Kanto, specializing in Rock-type Pokémon. He assumed this responsibility young after his father, Flint, abandoned the family and his mother, Lola, departed. Left caring for his nine younger siblings and maintaining the Gym, he granted Ash Ketchum the Boulder Badge at age 15 following their battle. Brock then entrusted the Gym to his father and joined Ash's journey to pursue his dream of becoming a Pokémon Breeder.

Traveling extensively with Ash and companions like Misty, May, Max, and Dawn across multiple regions, Brock served as the group's primary caretaker and voice of reason. He carried extensive supplies – cookware, medical items, maps, and books – handling all cooking, cleaning, and Pokémon grooming. His observational skills, honed as a former Gym Leader, allowed him to assess Pokémon health and explain battle strategies. A defining comedic trait was his recurring infatuation with women, especially Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy, often leading to heartbreak or intervention by friends or his Pokémon, like Croagunk dragging him away. Despite setbacks, he remained determined to find a romantic partner, occasionally considering leaving the group if successful.

His goals evolved; near the end of the Diamond & Pearl series, questioning his progress as a Breeder, Brock shifted focus towards becoming a Pokémon Doctor. After studying medicine in Pewter City and attending medical school, he began working at a Sinnoh-region Pokémon Center, aided by his Croagunk and Blissey. He later supported his brother Forrest's official succession as Pewter Gym Leader. Brock reappeared in subsequent series like Sun & Moon and Pokémon Journeys, assisting Ash during the World Coronation Series and traveling with him intermittently while maintaining his medical career.

In the winter holiday OVA *Pikachu no Fuyuyasumi*, Brock appears briefly among the group staying at a snowy cottage. The narrative primarily follows the Pokémon's adventures during the humans' absence, depicting no significant character development or actions for Brock during these events.

His family relationships were complex; he resented his mother for remodeling the Pewter Gym into a Water-type facility but reconciled with his father. Brock upheld his responsibilities toward his siblings, particularly mentoring Forrest.
