TV Special
Description
Based in Pewter City, Kanto, Brock initially served as its Rock-type Pokémon Gym Leader, stepping up to support his nine younger siblings after his father Flint departed. Following Ash Ketchum's victory and the Boulder Badge win, Flint returned, freeing Brock to pursue his dream of becoming a Pokémon Breeder by joining Ash's group.
Traveling across Kanto and Johto, Brock shouldered cooking duties and group care, frequently offering battle strategies honed as a Gym Leader. He became notorious for romantic pursuits toward women like Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy, often requiring intervention from companions. He temporarily left the group in the Orange Islands to work under Professor Ivy before rejoining Ash and Misty for their Johto journey.
After Johto, Brock returned home to find his mother had converted the Pewter Gym into a Water-type facility. He defeated her, restored its Rock-type specialization, and entrusted leadership to his brother Forrest. This allowed Brock to rejoin Ash for expeditions through Hoenn and Sinnoh, maintaining his support role while cultivating medical interests. In Sinnoh, he solidified his new goal of becoming a Pokémon Doctor, ultimately departing the group for medical training.
In *The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon*, Brock accompanied Ash, May, and Max to Dr. Yung's laboratory, reuniting with Misty and Professor Oak. When the Mirage Master kidnapped Dr. Yung and Professor Oak, Brock volunteered to fetch Officer Jenny for help while others began rescue efforts. He returned as the special concluded, though he missed the climactic battle against Mirage Mewtwo.
Later appearances showed Brock studying medicine while assisting at Pewter City's Pokémon Center. During Ash's Alola visit, he reunited with him in Kanto, diagnosed a Pokémon's ailment, and participated in educational battles, showcasing his Mega Steelix against Ash's classmates. He later traveled to Alola's Akala Island, using his medical skills to treat an injured Kangaskhan. Brock also briefly encountered Cilan in Unova, where they cooperated to calm a rampaging Gyarados, unaware of their shared connection to Ash.
Brock's character arc concluded with him practicing medicine in Kanto while occasionally supporting his brother's gym leadership. His final known activity involved assisting Nurse Joy in Alola before returning home.
