John Burgmeier is an American voice actor, ADR script writer, and musician, widely recognized for his extensive work in English dubs of Japanese anime series, primarily with Funimation Entertainment. Born on October 24, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois, he has been active in the animation industry since the late 1980s. He is the son of fellow voice actress Linda Young.

Burgmeier's career is marked by a series of iconic and long-running roles. He is perhaps best known as the voice of the charming and manipulative Shigure Sohma in all iterations of the anime Fruits Basket, including the 2001 series, the 2019 reboot, its second season, The Final, and the prelude film. Another cornerstone role is that of the suave and tactical fox demon Kurama in the classic series Yu Yu Hakusho. In the Dragon Ball franchise, he has been the definitive voice of the disciplined martial artist Tien Shinhan for decades, a role he has voiced in numerous series, films, and video games since the Funimation dubs began. His other prominent and recurring roles include the rune wizard Freed Justine in Fairy Tail and its sequel, the hero Edgeshot in My Hero Academia, and Clayman in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. He has also voiced characters such as Fullbody in One Piece, Hajime Shibata in Hell Girl, Switzerland in Hetalia: Axis Powers, and Haruo Kasuga in the Eden of the East films.

Beyond his on-screen performances, Burgmeier has had a significant behind-the-scenes impact as a writer. For many years, he served as the Head Writer at Funimation, a role from which he retired in 2018. In this capacity, he was the lead script writer for the English dub of the long-running series One Piece and contributed to the adaptation of numerous other series. His writing credits are extensive and include work on acclaimed titles such as Eden of the East, Attack on Titan, Steins;Gate, Deadman Wonderland, and the Rebuild of Evangelion films. This dual talent for voice acting and script adaptation has made him a versatile and invaluable figure in the industry.

Outside of voice acting and writing, Burgmeier is also a musician and a member of the rock band El Gato, in which he plays guitar and keyboard.
