Two years after Kid Buu's defeat, Son Goku resides on Mount Paozu with his wife Chi-Chi and their sons Gohan and Goten. Despite financial aid from Mr. Satan, the family cultivates radishes on their farm, a disciplined lifestyle upheld by Chi-Chi since before these events. Goku's legendary appetite directly shapes his decisions. He initially refuses an invitation to Mr. Satan's celebratory banquet at a new hotel, but instantly accepts upon hearing the event offers unlimited food. At the feast, he wears his signature orange gi with blue undershirt and wristbands. His combat senses stay razor-sharp. He is among the first to detect alien ships carrying Tarble, Vegeta's previously unknown younger brother, and later the pursuing threats Abo and Kado. Learning from Tarble that Abo and Kado possess power comparable to Frieza, Goku deems this level manageable for the younger generation. He devises a radish-drawing contest from his farm to select combatants. After Trunks picks the longest radish under Vegeta's influence, Goku pragmatically suggests including Goten too, citing the two opponents. Goku observes the ensuing fight rather than joining. He offers support to Goten and Trunks against Abo and Kado, and later against their fused form, Aka. When Aka retaliates after defeat and starts demolishing the hotel, Goku intervenes alongside Vegeta. He employs a psychological tactic against Vegeta, feigning alarm ("What's that?!") to create an opening. Goku then single-handedly defeats Aka with a Kamehameha followed by a decisive physical strike. Extending his typical post-battle reconciliation, he invites the defeated Abo and Kado to join the banquet amidst the rubble. The conclusion underscores Goku's enduring traits: his food priority sparks a Super Saiyan-level argument with Vegeta when they eat each other's reserved sushi and char siu, and his farming roots persist as he serves homegrown radishes to guests. His established relationships remain constant: his marriage to Chi-Chi, mentorship of Gohan, and rivalry with Vegeta.
