Description
"Eureka Seven AO" is a 2012 anime series that serves as a sequel to the original "Eureka Seven," set in an alternate timeline. The story centers on Ao Fukai, a 13-year-old boy living on the island of Iwato Jima in Okinawa. Ao is the son of Eureka, the protagonist of the original series, though his father’s identity remains a mystery. The narrative unfolds in a world where mysterious entities known as Scub Corals and Secrets—alien-like beings—pose a significant threat to humanity. These entities emerge from the Scub Bursts, phenomena that disrupt the environment and trigger conflicts.
Ao becomes involved in the global struggle against the Secrets when he encounters the Nirvash, a sentient mecha known as an IFO (Intelligent Flying Object). The Nirvash bonds with Ao, granting him the ability to pilot it and fight against the Secrets. Ao joins Generation Bleu, an international organization dedicated to combating the Secrets and protecting the world from their destructive influence. As Ao becomes more deeply involved in the conflict, he uncovers secrets about his mother, Eureka, and her connection to the Scub Corals. The story explores themes of identity, legacy, and the consequences of humanity’s interactions with alien forces.
Throughout the series, Ao encounters a diverse cast of characters, including his childhood friend Naru Arata, who harbors feelings for him, and Elena Peoples, a member of Generation Bleu with her own motivations. The narrative also delves into political intrigue, as various factions, including the United Nations and the Japanese government, vie for control over the Scub Corals and their technology. Ao’s journey is marked by personal growth, as he grapples with his role in the conflict and his desire to uncover the truth about his family. The series blends mecha action, science fiction, and emotional drama, culminating in a complex exploration of interconnected timelines and the impact of choices on the future.

Staffel 1
1Born Slippy
In April 2025 on the Okinawa Islands,thirteen-year-old Ao Fukai walks his childhood friend Naru Arata home. He stumbles upon smugglers Gazelle, Pippo, and Han Juno. A Scub Coral suddenly appears, and Ao runs back to his house, accidentally taking a bracelet the three men were smuggling to the Japanese Armed Forces. The smugglers discover the bracelet missing and search for Ao to retrieve it. The next day, another Scub Coral surfaces, bringing forth a massive G-Monster that wreaks havoc across Iwato Jima. The G-Monster continues its attack, and Ao realizes the bracelet once belonged to his long-lost mother, Eureka. He refuses to give it up. The Japanese Navy transports an IFO (Intelligent Flying Object), and Ao pilots it to defeat the G-Monster. As the bracelet activates the IFO, Ao's hair changes from brown to turquoise at the start of the battle. Team Pied Piper pilots Fleur Blanc and Elena Peoples watch from a distance, recognizing this IFO as the first ever model made. After the battle, Ao faces the consequences of his actions and the mystery of his mother's disappearance. The episode closes with Ao deciding to leave his island home. As he prepares to depart, the Japanese military and the private organization Génération Bleu both move to secure the Nirvash and its young pilot.
2Calling You
Ao regains consciousness in a Generation Blue detention room. Officers interrogate him about the Nirvash's unsanctioned activation, but Ao demands to know their purpose first. Commander Gazelle reveals that Generation Blue fights the Secrets, extraterrestrial or transformed beings attacking Earth. Gazelle also informs Ao that his mother Eureka vanished ten years ago during a related incident. Gazelle offers Ao a position as a pilot, and Ao agrees to test the Nirvash in a simulation. Before the test finishes, a real Secret appears over Iwato Jima and targets the city's energy towers. Ao launches the Nirvash without authorization, and the machine reacts violently to his emotional state. The Nirvash thrashes through the city, nearly crushing buildings, while Fleur and Elena fail to damage the Secret with their IFOs. Ao steadies his breathing and establishes a stable link, causing the Nirvash's arm to morph into a cannon. Ao fires one concentrated shot, obliterating the Secret. Gazelle formally recruits Ao, who accepts to remain with the Nirvash and search for any clue about his mother. Ao moves into the Generation Blue dormitory as a new Secret signature appears on the radar.
3Episode 3
The Japanese military arrives at the Generation Bleu base and demands custody of the Nirvash. Ao Fukai refuses to hand over the IFO. The military commander threatens to use force. Before the situation escalates,a Secret emerges from the ocean near Iwato Island. The military’s conventional weapons fail to damage the Secret. Generation Bleu launches its three IFO units: Fleur Blanc’s Kibisu, Elena Peoples’s Chitaru, and Ao’s Nirvash. The Secret releases a swarm of small drones that overwhelm Fleur and Elena. Ao activates the Nirvash’s trapar cannon and destroys the drones. He then fires the cannon directly at the Secret’s core, eliminating the threat. After the battle, the military claims responsibility for the victory and stages a ceremony for the media. The military gives Ao a medal and calls him a hero. Ao accepts the medal but shows visible discomfort with the public attention. Truth, a pale young man in a suit, watches the ceremony from a distance and smiles. Truth then disappears into a pillar of light. Ao returns to the base and asks why the military lied about the battle. No one provides a clear answer. The episode closes with Truth observing Generation Bleu’s headquarters from a nearby hill, holding a glowing object. The object emits a signal that begins attracting more Secrets toward Okinawa.
4Walk This Way (Planet Coral)
The musician Kazuyuki Kinjo takes Ao into custody on Iwato Jima. Kinjo apologizes to Ao for the actions of his generation regarding the island's past accidents. A new Scub Coral surfaces and releases a G-Monster to attack the island. Ao pilots the Nirvash IFO,which the Japanese Navy transports, to confront the monster. During the battle, Ao's hair changes from brown to turquoise. Team Pied Piper observes the battle and recognizes the IFO as the first model ever made. The bracelet on Ao's wrist activates the IFO, and Ao realizes the bracelet belonged to his missing mother, Eureka. Ao understands that he is the intended pilot of the Nirvash in his mother's absence. Following the battle, Ao resolves to protect Iwato Jima. He decides to join Generation Bleu to search for his mother and uncover the truth about his birth. Ao's decision places him directly in the path of the political and military factions competing for control of the Nirvash.

6Light My Fire -noblesse oblige-
7No One Is Innocent -bye bye angel-
8Blue Thunder
Generation Bleu places Ao under close surveillance following his disobedience in the previous mission. Gazelle,Pippo, and Han tail him through the headquarters hallways. Fleur learns from them that Ao resents his absent father, mirroring her own hatred for Christophe Blanc. A Scub Coral and a Secret emerge over the Republic of Faisal Arabia. Pied Piper deploys aboard the Triton, but the United States government pressures President Blanc to recall the ship. Ao leaves the vessel in anger, unable to accept abandoning civilians. Fleur follows him despite Rebecca's objections. Christophe secretly uses Gazelle's team to film the destruction in Arabia and releases the footage to global news networks. International pressure forces the U.S. to reverse its decision and authorize the mission. The three pilots re-engage the Secret, a bird-like creature that generates lightning. Elena's IFO loses power, leaving Ao and Fleur to coordinate the attack. They combine their firepower to destroy the Secret before it can crash into the Scub Coral. After the battle, Fleur tells Ao that her mother died under unclear circumstances involving her father's work. She admits she wants to confront Christophe directly rather than run from him. Ao acknowledges that he shares the same desire to face his own father. Christophe watches their exchange on a monitor and expresses satisfaction with their growing partnership. Truth, the mysterious antagonist, prepares to intervene in the next conflict.
9Enemy Below
The Japanese military conducts a secret experiment in Tokyo Bay to create an artificial Plant Coral using damaged quartz shards from a Scub Burst that destroyed Tokyo 70 years ago. Generation Bleu detects the resulting Scab Coral formation and dispatches Team Pied Piper to the location. Upon arrival,Ao learns that the mission's primary objective is to retrieve the quartz core rather than protect the city from the Secret that emerges. Ao disobeys this order and pilots the Nirvash to engage the Secret directly. The underwater environment imposes strict depth limits, as water pressure threatens to crush the IFOs beyond certain thresholds. Ao drains the trapar particles from Fleur and Elena's machines to lure the Secret into an optimal attack position. He destroys the Secret but depletes the Nirvash's fuel in the process, leaving him stranded at crushing depths. Fleur and Elena pull the powerless Nirvash back to the surface, saving Ao. On land, Gazelle and his companions discover that Truth orchestrated the entire experiment. Truth approaches Nakamura, the army officer who led the failed operation, and recruits him to his cause.
10Episode 10
A Scub Burst in Phoenix,Arizona triggers a Secret emergence. The US military launches a frontal assault with conventional forces, which fails to stop the creature. Generation Bleu's Pied Piper team receives a call but must wait for an official request from the governor before deploying. Rebecka Hallström negotiates with a former colleague from a high-profile PR company, revealing her past ties to the organization that funds Generation Bleu. Ivica Tanović disobeys the standby order and takes Ao to the site to assess the situation firsthand. They encounter Truth, who disguises himself as a civilian and holds a group of survivors hostage. Truth moves the building containing the hostages into the Grand Canyon. The Secret attacks the location, forcing Ivica and Ao to take cover. Ao witnesses the immediate danger to civilians and the destruction caused by the Secret. He experiences a psychological breakdown, realizing the battlefield's lethal reality without the protection of the Nirvash. Ivica reveals his backstory: a war erased his wife, child, and entire homeland, and media manipulation prevented other nations from intervening. He takes up a rocket launcher and engages the Secret directly. After negotiations conclude, Fleur, Elena, and the rest of Pied Piper arrive to support. The team coordinates to destroy the Secret. Truth escapes, continuing his manipulation of events. Truth remains at large, and the political constraints on Generation Bleu's operations persist as new Secrets continue to emerge.
11Mirror of the World
Team Pied Piper responds to a Scub Burst in Australia that produces no accompanying Secret. The team extracts the quartz core and returns to base, unaware that trapar-infused sand-like particles have attached to their IFOs. These particles enter the pilots' bodies and excite their brains, inducing hallucinations. The trapar sand only affects children who grew up in high-trapar environments, as their brains have physically changed to enable IFO piloting. Elena Peoples experiences the strongest reaction, hallucinating a figure resembling the pop star Miller, who also appears as a clone formed from the sand. The hallucination transports Elena and Ao Fukai to a shared vision of a beach with a carved moon bearing two names, images from Eureka's original world. Meanwhile, Gazelle and his companions investigate Elena's past, traveling to England where Miller began her career and to an American orphanage that experimented on trapar-sensitive children. Their research reveals that Miller worked as a spy for the US government, and at some point Elena began impersonating her. The investigation concludes with Elena's former nanny stating that the real Elena Peoples died five years earlier. The episode closes with this revelation, leaving the identity of the girl at Generation Bleu unresolved.
12Step Into a World (Heaven and Earth)
Pied Piper travels to the Generation Bleu space station Proteus to deposit collected Quartz. A Secret attacks a Scub Coral that materializes in low Earth orbit, threatening satellites with debris from a potential Scub Burst. Generation Bleu launches the Pied Piper team to intercept the Secret. Ao enters space and discovers the absence of trapar particles, which removes the visual wind paths he relies on for piloting. Hanna, chief of Team Harlequin, objects to Ao sortieing under these conditions, but Ao chooses to launch regardless. Truth manipulates a satellite and redirects the Scub Burst's vector, sending the Scub Coral on a collision course with Earth. In Brazil, Naru sits atop a Scub Burst and uses her power to open a passage inside the Scub Coral. The Scub Coral breaks apart during atmospheric re-entry, revealing the Gekko, the flagship from the original Eureka Seven series, concealed within. The Nirvash type ZERO, piloted by Ao's mother Eureka, emerges from the Gekko alongside Ao's Nirvash. Eureka appears younger than in Ao's photographs and shows no recognition of her son when she speaks to him. The episode ends with Eureka and the Gekko's sudden arrival, leaving Ao and the audience uncertain about her origins or her connection to this world.

17Johansson's Book
Ao travels to Ireland and finds Chloe and Maeve living ordinary lives with their families, unaware they ever served as IFO pilots. The Quartz Gun's previous firing altered past events instead of killing the two girls. Public opinion turns against Generation Bleu after news leaks about the organization's secret quartz stockpiles. On Iwato Jima, a protest at the Scub Coral mining site turns deadly when a worker falls to his death. Naru emerges from the Coral, revives the dead man, and causes the Coral to grow and reactivate. Han reads from Professor Johansson's book, which describes an alternate reality with seven billion people, nuclear power, and no Scub Coral or Secrets. The book states that Johansson raised Truth as his adopted son and incorporated Truth's stories from that other world into his writings. Generation Bleu launches an ocean operation to collect quartz from an unclaimed Scub Coral. The Quartz Gun activates autonomously, breaks out of the ship, and attaches itself to the Nirvash. The weapon begins absorbing quartz from the Coral. Truth appears, seizes the gun from Ao, and forces the Nirvash underwater. Ao encounters a projection of his mother Eureka inside the cockpit. Eureka reveals she has experienced only a few days since disappearing with the giant quartz, while ten years have passed for Ao. She states that Renton searches for a device similar to the Quartz Gun and that the weapon remains incomplete. Ao retrieves the gun and aims at Truth but cannot bring himself to fire. Truth departs, and Ao surrenders to American military forces, who promise to protect him. With Eureka trapped between times and the Quartz Gun still unfinished, Ao commits to finding his mother while Renton pursues the same goal from another direction.
18Don't Look Down
Ao completes his transfer paperwork aboard the U.S. aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan while Colonel Tanaka offers him sweets and drinks. At Generation Bleu,Fleur and Elena attempt to activate the Third Engine in their IFOs but fail repeatedly, unlike Ao. The stress of Ao's departure causes an argument between the two girls. Elena confesses that she killed the original pilot Miller and assumed her identity. Fleur slaps Elena, and Elena slaps her back before storming off. Fleur falls to her knees, and Gazelle urges her to confront her own feelings. Both pilots independently decide to fly to the American carrier and demand answers from Ao. When they arrive, they pressure Ao to admit what he truly wants. Ao acknowledges that he wants to stay with them rather than remain with the Allies. The Third Engines in both IFOs activate simultaneously as the girls express their desire to bring Ao back. Ao returns with them to Generation Bleu, but the Third Engines deactivate once the emotional moment passes. The United States demands the UN label Generation Bleu a terrorist organization, leaving Team Pied Piper isolated from the rest of the world.
19Maybe Tomorrow (The Day)
Truth learns from the captured Secret that he is a Secret who took human form after losing his purpose. He refuses to believe this revelation and flies into space. There,he destroys hundreds of satellites and the Poseidon space station, killing Team Harlequin. The Allied Forces blame Generation Bleu for the satellite destruction and launch an attack on their headquarters. Big Blue World cuts off Generation Bleu's electricity and funding, leaving the base vulnerable. Rebecka performs a roll-back on AI Georg after his infection by a Secret, rendering the IFOs unable to launch. Elena tells Ao and Fleur that Eureka brought her to this world from another place. Truth impersonates Christophe Blanc and attempts to steal the Quartz Gun. Fleur recognizes the deception and shoots the impostor. The real Christophe arrives and reveals that Secrets may not be the true enemy; the Scub Corals pose the real threat. He traps himself and Truth in a room with a quartz trigger, causing a massive fusion explosion that sacrifices himself. Ao and Fleur escape the blast as Generation Bleu collapses around them. The destruction leaves the surviving pilots without a base or leader, forcing them to confront a world that now views them as enemies.
20Better Days Ahead (Last Message)
Allied forces launch a direct assault on Generation Bleu's headquarters. Blanc executes a desperate last-ditch maneuver to stop Truth's interference. The resulting quartz-born Fusion explosion engulfs part of the facility, killing Blanc and likely Truth as well. The explosion leaves Generation Bleu leaderless as Allied troops surround the base. The Secret-infected Gerog activates the Triton to give the remaining crew a means of escape. Ao pilots the Nirvash deep into the collapsing headquarters to retrieve the Quartz gun. A massive outpouring of quartz marks his successful recovery of the weapon. The Triton escapes moments before the headquarters collapses entirely. Team Harlequin defects to the Allied forces in a public shift of allegiance. Elena also appears to defect, leaving Generation Bleu with shrinking ranks. Blanc's final preparations, completed before his death, present Generation Bleu with a pivotal deal—an agreement negotiated directly with the Secrets themselves. The Allied forces consolidate their position as Generation Bleu's leadership structure disintegrates. The surviving crew must rely on uncertain allegiances and a fragile pact with their former enemies. The Quartz gun now in Ao's possession becomes the central object of contention as both sides prepare for the next stage of conflict.
