"Kakuriyo Yadomeshi" is a supernatural fantasy anime set in a world where humans and ayakashi, or spirits, coexist. As Aoi navigates her new life in Kakuriyo, she forms bonds with various ayakashi, including Ginji, a shapeshifting fox spirit who becomes her close friend and ally, and Oryo, a kind-hearted elderly ayakashi who supports her endeavors.

The narrative explores Aoi's journey as she balances her responsibilities at Tenjin-ya with her determination to uncover the mysteries surrounding her grandfather's past and his connections to the ayakashi world.
