Rina Satou is a Japanese voice actress and singer born on May 2, 1981, in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. She is affiliated with the Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society, also known as Haikyō. Satou decided to pursue a career as a voice actor from her fifth year of elementary school. She completed her training at the Haikyō Voice Actors Studio as a member of the 19th graduating class in 2001 and officially joined Haikyō the following year.
Her career advanced significantly in 2003 when she was cast in her first leading role as Negi Springfield in the anime adaptation of Magister Negi Magi, which aired in 2005 and brought her widespread recognition. This role showcased her ability to portray a young boy, a specialty she is known for alongside a wide range of other character types, including girls, women, and those with various personality traits.
Satou's career is marked by several long-running and iconic roles. She is particularly renowned for her portrayal of Mikoto Misaka in the A Certain Magical Index series and its spin-off, A Certain Scientific Railgun. She also voices Haruka Minami in the Minami-ke series and Rei Hino / Sailor Mars in the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal and Eternal films.
