A live-action television series based on the Street Fighter franchise was announced in March 2018 to be in development by Entertainment One (eOne) and Mark Gordon. The series draws its core story from the Street Fighter II: The World Warrior narrative arc, known as the World Warrior story. It centers on four main protagonists: the wandering warriors Ryu and Ken, the special forces officer Guile, and Interpol agent Chun-Li. These heroes are united in their fight against the antagonist M. Bison, the powerful and evil mastermind who controls Shadaloo, a global criminal organization.

The plot revolves around the World Warrior Tournament, a competition devised by M. Bison to identify the most powerful fighter on the planet. Although each hero begins on a separate journey, they are drawn into this tournament, where their paths eventually cross. To survive and emerge as the ultimate World Warrior, they must rely on their strength, skills, intelligence, and loyalty. The creative team behind the well-received live-action web series Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist, including Joey Ansah, Jacqueline Quella, and Mark Wooding, was set to executive produce the project. The series was intended to build an inclusive universe, leveraging the franchise's diverse cast of characters and powerful women.

A separate live-action series, Street Fighter: Resurrection, was produced by Machinima and premiered in 2016. This series follows the story of Charlie Nash, a character presumed dead who returns and works with Interpol to take down the Shadaloo criminal organization led by M. Bison. He partners with his old friend Guile, and the action takes place after the events of Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist, featuring other fan-favorite characters such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Cammy.
